With the summer season coming to a close, one of our favorites times of year in Sonoma County is approaching – fall! There are countless fairs, festivals, concerts and wine-centric events to look forward to. Read below for a list and description of each of these events. Hopefully we’ll see you there!
19th Annual Sebastopol Cajun Zydeco Festival – Sept. 6th, 11:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Enjoy live music from Creole United, Andre Theirry& Zydeco Magic, Sean Ardion&ZydeCool and Mark St. Mary & his Louisiana Blues and Zydeco Band in downtown Sebastopol in Ives Park. The National Heirloom Exposition – Sept. 9th – 11th, 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Head over to the Sonoma County Fairgrounds in Santa Rosa for this not-for-profit event centered around the pure food movement, heirloom vegetables and anti-GMO activism. Wine Country Film Festival – Sept. 17th – 21st, All Day
Centered around Kenwood, aka The Valley of the Moon, is this 28th annual, cinematic feast spread out over five days in an eclectic blend of cinema, the arts and culture. Films are screened outdoors in the breathtaking setting of Deerfield Ranch Winery, inside the Grand Room Cave Theater and at nearby venues throughout the valley. Russian River Jazz & Blues Festival – Sept. 20th – 21st, All Day
Check out Johnson’s Beach in Guerneville, a picturesque venue along the beaches of the Russian River, to enjoy a stellar line-up including Boney James, Gary Clark Jr., Larry Graham & Graham Central Station, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Nicolas Bearde and Mitch Woods, to name a few. Alexander Valley Vineyard’s Annual Harvest Party – Sept. 20th, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
AVV will be celebrating the harvest with their biggest bash of the year. An all-day celebration, the event will take place on the historic Wetzel Family Estate in gorgeous Alexander Valley. Grapes will be picked and blessed, there will be a grape stomp and bocce ball tournament, barbeque, live music and of course, delectable wines. Wings Over Wine Country Air Show – Sept. 20th – 21st, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
A fantastic event, there will be dozens of parked, historic aircraft, military displays, food, drinks, vendors offering aircraft/military memorabilia and much more. Some of the aircraft participating in the airshow include the P-38J Lockheed Lightning, Vought F4U-1 Corsair, North American B-24 Mitchell “Old Glory” and North American P-51 Mustangs. Valley of the Moon Vintage Festival – Sept. 26th, All Day
The 117th Annual Valley of the Moon Vintage Festival has been celebrating Sonoma Valley’s bounty, community and local culture. The state of California’s oldest festival, this local tradition takes place in downtown Sonoma’s historic Plaza. Beginning with Friday night’s gala event offering delicious wines, food and live music, this event is sure to be another local’s favorite! Heart of Sonoma Valley CRUSH – September 26th-28th, 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Discover what it’s like to be involved in a wine harvest and crush at this three-day event. The fifteen participating wineries include Arrowood, Deerfield, En Garde, Enkidu, Eric Ross, Kaz, Kenwood, Loxton, Mayo Family, Moondance, NakedWines.com, Paradise Ridge, St. Anne’s Crossing, Ty Caton and VJB.
